When does SAS release award seats?
SAS releases award seats up to 330 days before departure, according to SAS's own award pages (checked 4 October 2026). SAS does not say at what time of day new dates open, and it can change the window, so check on SAS's website on the day.
How to use the 330 days
- Count back from your trip. For a departure on 20 December 2027, the date opens around 24 January 2027.
- A round trip opens when its return does. A trip from 20 to 27 December 2027 can be booked as a round trip only once 27 December is within 330 days, around 31 January 2027.
- Popular dates go fast. Christmas, New Year, the February school holidays and summer are the first to sell out - see award flights at Christmas and New Year and award flights in the February school holidays.
Partner flights
Flights on SkyTeam partners do not always follow SAS's 330 days and can appear at other times than SAS's own flights. Partner flights also have partly different rules - see SAS's rules in short.
The window can change
In June 2026 SAS briefly showed dates about 361 days ahead and then went back to 330, according to AwardFares (7 July 2026). So trust what SAS's booking shows on the day you search.
Be ready on release day
A Dotflight seat alert (Pro) on a date that is not open yet tells you when it opens, and on release day it checks the new dates every half hour from 06:00 to 10:00, within a daily limit. Dotflight is an independent tool and does not have SAS's permission - see terms, section 2.
Made for Chrome on a computer; Edge and Brave usually run Chrome extensions too.
