SAS award flight rules in short

The essentials of SAS's rules for award flights, in one place. As SAS describes them in September 2026 - SAS may change rules and point prices, and SAS's booking always has the final word.

Point prices

Point prices are fixed by destination and travel class. Award seats are limited.
A one-way costs 60% of the round-trip price.
Air Europa, China Airlines and Vietnam Airlines cost double points.
The whole fare is paid in points; taxes and fees are paid by card.

Booking

SAS and other SkyTeam airlines can be mixed in one booking.
Different classes out and back are fine, but not within one direction.
Partner flights carry a booking fee of 25-95 EUR per traveller, depending on trip and class.
A return from a different airport is booked through SAS customer service.
No stopovers longer than 24 hours, and no child discounts.
One Amex 2-for-1 voucher per booking, for up to two travellers.
Connecting flights from Nordic towns to major hubs (Umeå-Stockholm-Copenhagen before Copenhagen-New York, say) cost about 15 EUR per traveller and are not refunded.

Changes and cancellations

Cancel free within 24 hours of booking - the points come back.
Cancel or rebook up to 24 hours before departure, for a fee per traveller: 25 EUR within Europe, 75 EUR intercontinental.
The booking fee is refunded when you cancel. Expired points and vouchers are not.
Refunds can take up to 7 business days.

Good to know

You earn no EuroBonus points on award trips.
Partner airlines may have different products and baggage rules.
